What is Invisalign? Are they Braces?
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after.
Why would I want Invisalign? Why not Braces?
Invisalign aligners are clear, almost invisible. Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Brushing and flossing are no problem.
Inivisalgn aligners are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
This means that with no metal and wires may mean that you will spend less time during your treatment coming in for adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
How do Invisalign Treatments work?
Milton Orthodontics advises that patients with Inivisalign wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move little by little, week by week until they have straightened to the final position.
You will visit Milton Orthodontics about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

When you get your braces fitted or receive your Invisalign aligners by Milton Orthodontics, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for three to five days. If the tenderness is severe, take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or whatever you normally take for headache or similar pain. For braces: the lips, cheeks, and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the surface of the braces.
Dr. Berka and Milton Orthodontics will provide you with wax for your to put on the braces to lessen the rubbing of your braces on the inside of the surface of your mouth. Milton Orthodontics will show you how to apply the wax on your braces if you have forgotten.
